How to build a social media content calendar you'll actually stick to
Consistency beats virality. A simple, repeatable system for planning a month of social content in an afternoon.
Daksh TrivediFounder, Dhyanam Digital Solution · 2 min readMost businesses don't struggle with ideas for social media. They struggle with consistency. A burst of posts in January, silence in February, a panicked catch-up in March.
The fix isn't more motivation. It's a simple system.
1. Choose three to five content pillars
Pillars are the recurring themes you'll post about. For a service business, a good starting set is:
- Expertise: tips, how-tos and answers to common questions
- Proof: results, case studies and testimonials
- People: your team, culture and behind-the-scenes moments
- Perspective: your opinion on industry news and trends
Every post should fit at least one pillar. If it doesn't, ask why you're posting it.
2. Decide on a realistic rhythm
Three good posts a week beat seven rushed ones. Pick a frequency you can sustain for twelve months, not twelve days.
3. Batch your planning and creation
Block one afternoon at the end of each month to plan the next. Write all captions in one sitting, then design all graphics in another. Switching between tasks is where time disappears.
4. Repurpose everything
One customer story can become a LinkedIn post, an Instagram carousel, a short video, an email and a website case study. Plan for repurposing from the start.
5. Review monthly, not daily
Daily metrics are noisy. Once a month, look at which pillars drove the most saves, shares, comments and enquiries, and shift your mix towards what works.
